La Sirene kit - AUD $100
design approx. 32cm x 29cm
La Sirene is the beautiful mermaid and siren, who inspires our creativity and helps us express our emotions. She is of the ocean, therefore her domain also includes spirituality, beauty, sensuality, self confidence and love, the subconscious and imagination. I am fortunate enough to have her in my life, and in turn I serve her to the best of my abilities!
Planets kit - AUD $100
design approx. 32cm x 32cm
This needlepoint design features the Astrological symbols of (from left to right) the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, North Node, South Node, Chiron, Part of Fortune, Ceres, Juno, Pallas and Vesta. This would be a good design to start with if you are new
to needlepoint.
Isis kit - AUD $150
design approx. 53cm x 40cm
This is my first Goddess cushion, the very powerful image of Isis. Isis
has been worshipped in many different pantheons, not just Egyptian. Originally
called Aset in the Egyptian language, she is the Goddess of Magick, the
Great Mother, sister and wife to Osiris and mother of Horus.
She is frequently shown with her enfolding, nurturing wings. The other
side of Isis is cunning – according to some legends, she obtained
her magickal powers and knowledge by tricking the Sun God Ra into revealing
his secret name.
Thoth kit - AUD $150
design approx. 46cm x 45cm
Thoth is known as being the wisest of the Egyptian Gods, and here I have represented him as the ibis-headed scribe. The Egyptian name of Thoth, Djehuty, means 'truth' and 'time'. He was a master magickian, and the inventor of astrology, astronomy, engineering, botany, geometry, and many other sciences. Thoth is considered to be a Moon God, the curve of the ibis beak representing the crescent Moon.
The hieroglyphs in the centre of the design are letting us know that Thoth is the messenger and scribe to the Gods in the skies above. (Now that's a Michelle-translation, so if anyone can elaborate, please do!)
Hathor kit - AUD $150
design approx. 46.5cm x 48cm
Hathor (or Hwt-Hrw, pronounced 'Haut-Hor') was one of the most commonly worshipped goddesses in ancient Egypt. She is often depicted with a woman's face and cow's ears, and, according to Kerry E Wisner's 'Song of Hathor', had such titles as Lady of Heaven, Lady of Stars, Sovereign of Stars, Lady of Lapis-Lazuli, Golden One, Beautiful One, Lady of the Sacred Land, Lady of Music, Lady of Dance, to name just a few. She represents love, joy, pleasure, sexuality, music, dance and beauty.
Even though this design looks quite complicated, it isn't ... the stars in the background are a repeated pattern, and once you have stitched the outline of the Hathor heads, it is easy to fill in the colours afterwards.
Spartans kit - AUD $92
design approx. 49cm x 30cm
My inspiration for this one was an ancient picture my husband found of
running Spartans, which he said motivated him to exercise. As a joke, I
thought I’d stitch them for him, for inspiration, and added the bright,
un-Spartan-like colours in the background.
