Thoth is known as being the wisest of the Egyptian Gods, and here I have represented him as the ibis-headed scribe. The Egyptian name of Thoth, Djehuty, means ‘truth’ and ‘time’. He was a master magickian, and the inventor of astrology, astronomy, engineering, botany, geometry, and many other sciences. Thoth is considered to be a Moon God, the curve of the ibis beak representing the crescent Moon.
The hieroglyphs in the centre of the design are letting us know that Thoth is the messenger and scribe to the Gods in the skies above. (Now that’s a Michelle-translation, so if anyone can elaborate, please do!)
